Last week, JPT’s Leadership team trekked down to Claremont, on the eastern edge of Los Angeles County, to meet with gifted students at Harvey Mudd College. Over two days, Founder and CEO Jon Wang, Chief Life Protector Tony Ramirez and members of the Leadership staff spoke directly with students at the science and engineering-focused institution about JPT’s mission to build a safer future for its clients through tech-integrated security solutions.

“Harvey Mudd is a leading STEM university full of bright future talent,” explains JPT’s Founder and CEO Jon Wang. “Our team saw this event as an exciting opportunity to meet with bright students who are interested in utilizing their talents to not only disrupt the security industry, but contribute to building a safer world.”

On February 22, JPT held a private, invite-only dinner inside the Sky Cube of the Shanahan building on the Harvey Mudd campus. As they enjoyed food from Bua Thai and Gus’s BBQ, attendees heard from founder Jon Wang, who spoke on JPT’s history and mission before offering inspirational advice about the importance of developing a sense of belonging. The intimate event offered curious students an up-close chance to speak with company leadership about JPT’s business model and growth potential in the fast-expanding tech security space.

The next day, Leadership participated in a campus job fair alongside participants like Bloomberg and Jane Street inside the Platt Campus Center Living Room. While learning about JPT, students were invited to spin a prize wheel and earn branded lanyards, pins, hats, and sling bags.

Stephen Hawkins, JPT’s Director of Life Protection, viewed the few days on campus as a great success.

“JPT is in an exciting phase of its development. We believe in our vision and are aware of its impact. Now, we need to build our teams to meet the demand we’re seeing for our services,” says Hawkins. “I think our time at Harvey Mudd helped us cultivate connections with students that will help us build out and optimize our technology to better craft an integrated user experience. This work will make clients feel they’re taking back control of their personal safety.”

While security may not be the first thing tech-focused students think of when imagining their future after college, Wang believes that JPT’s presence on campus helped future grads see potential in a new career path.

“Students of this generation care deeply about using their degree and skills to contribute to a good cause. They’re motivated very much by a sense of fulfillment and purpose,” adds Wang. “I believe our time at Harvey Mudd helped students see that at JPT, their contribution will be noted. They’ll gain valuable hands-on experience, and quickly see how their expertise is actually making people sleep better at night.”

In the coming months, Wang and Leadership look forward to welcoming more team members to  JPT from Harvey Mudd and other leading educational institutions to help modernize the worlds of security and executive protection.
